What did Jesus mean by “Come to Me” in Matthew 11:28?

Friend, Jesus is inviting you to come to Him personally. Anyone worn down by life or by religion can come, and He gives the rest.

In context

He says this in Galilee to crowds carrying daily toil and the heavy rules their teachers had added to the Law (Matthew 23:4).

ἀναπαύσωThe Greekanapausō, “I will give rest”

Jesus is the one who gives it. This rest is His gift to you.
